Moore Bros. provided me with all I needed to know about shipping conditions. And, for that matter, retail conditions. Any number of exemplars from European producers I purchased from them were much better than counterparts purchased from retailers in the Midwest. Daniel Rion, Grasso, Pinson, etc. Bottles purchased from Moore Bros had a complexity missing in bottles from other sources, as if they had been lightly stripped away by heat.
This concern is what moved me away from fly-by-night operations like Premier Cru, to say nothing of WineBid, WTSO, etc. And, conversely, despite the ludicrous sales pitch. why I am still willing to buy from Huet, etc, from Garagiste.
Obviously no perfect solution exists, but it would be nice to hold retailers accountable to the standards listed by De Maison.
