On an island somewhere in a salt water tidal estuary a few estuarians gathered to celebrate the natal day of Chris Coad.
Of food there was plenty... curds, joints, entremets, crustaceans, fowl, roots and tubers and other vegetables.
Of wine there was plenty and diverse:
Villa Jolanda (year?) Moscato Rose - lightweight, rosewater, refreshing way to come in from the warm, served in a flute substantial enough to double as a baseball bat
(maker?) (year?) Prosecco - not so memorable
(maker?) (year?) Apple Wine - I recall these are NJ wines
(maker?) (year?) Pear Wine - this was fairly delicate and racy (for a fruit wine)
Dom. Pepiere 2010 Muscadet "Ch. Thebault" - finally a bottle of this that is happy to be opened, full and rich from all its time on the lees, flower blossoms, citrus, minerality
Clos Roche Blanche 2013 Touraine Gamay - Geranium City!, way too much for me
Montevertine 1998 IGT "La Pergole Torte" - beautiful
Baudry 2009 Chinon Rouge "La Croix Boissee" - beautiful
Ch. Climens 1986 Sauternes 1er - beautiful
(maker?) (year?) Sauternes - a lighter maker, good for continuing to drink when you really should be stopping, but we're watching the Apollo 12 episode of "From the Earth to the Moon" so we need something
Happy 29th Birthday!
