My compliments to the menu writer: no obvious spelling errors! Did anyone explain what "strozzapreti" means? Were there any members of the clergy in attendance?

Cole, thanks for the hearty chuckle!

I can't think of any clergy who might have been present and disturbed (read: fearful)!

My, my, just look at all the tre being handed out by the bicchieri people. Chardonnay and Cabernet from Italay! All that "oak, toast, and vanilla", small wonder there's any room for wine in the glass.

Love the 'trumpeting elephant' logo, too.

Pete, did you like any of the food or wine?

The Antinori Cervaro della Sala '11 was really a nice wine. Not overly oaky, buttery, or too ripe, just solid in a pretty way. Excellent accompaniment to the sea bass course.

On the other hand, the Falesco Marciliano '04 didn't measure up as well. It was quite ripe, almost stringently tight tannins. A few other folks seemed to like it better than I did.

Other wines were as expected. Perhaps especially noteworthy was how excellently the Donnafugata Contessa Entellina Mille e Una Notte '02 showed -- lots of fruit in a smooth lingering profile, very nice pairing with the lamb ragu.

The food was very well prepared and presented.
