No special reason for the gathering, just catching up with how each other is doing, what happened this week, making any good plans, etc.
Dom. des Corbillieres 2015 Touraine Blanc - nose is assertively sauvignon blanc, shrieking gooseberry and grass but the mouth is more harmonious: fruity, lively, glou-glou; good QPR on this wine
Dom. Fondreche 2015 Ventoux Blanc - a blend of most of the usual Rhone white grapes, this has enough acidity to just hold off the cloying grapes; but it's still hard to get excited by Rhone whites
Huet 2010 Vouvray Demi-Sec "Clos de Bourg" - Sasha thinks this is already starting to show some secondary development but I think it's pretty youthful and even a bit closed
Caveau de Bacchus (Lucien Aviet) 1998 Trousseau "Rosieres" "Cuvee des Geologues" "Reserve du Caveau" - clarity of naming is not the domaine's strengh, but the wine is very good: imagine trousseau that trades a bit of its acid edge for more earth and slightly blacker fruit flavors; this is from their best trousseau vineyard and has aged beautifully; drink and hold, if you can get it
Egon Muller 2011 Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett - the most incredibly full, rich, vivid, palate-whacking kabinett you've ever had; gorgeous, clean, crisp, long, wow
Cyril Henschke 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon, Eden Valley - you could easily mistake this for a midweight Bordeaux, ripeness is well-judged and the wine is lovely
