Not sure what happened here but perhaps this thread can still be saved.

I can never remember which one is the supposed better of the two but I grabbed the Lytton Springs over the Geyserville at a local shop because it had more zin in the blend. So, here we go, 2014 Ridge Lytton Springs - the nose is slathered with Draper cologne. Really it's all coconut and then more coconut. Once you get past that there is a well balanced, fairly big wine with bramble fruit, fine grained tannin and juicy acidity that lingers long enough to tamp down the vanilla bean finish. Actually a pretty great match with grilled lamb shoulder chops simply seasoned with salt, pepper and garam masala.

Also open was a 2014 Domaine Lombard "La Re-Nommee" Vin de Pays de la Drome (my apologies for the lack of proper accents here) which is a syrah with some viognier in there as well. A little reduction in the nose then it's all ham hock and violets. Light and lively in the mouth with brilliant acids and a soft, rainwater texture. Lovely bottle of wine.

The Ridge Lytton Springs Zin '14 has the qualities to become one of the best ever. A classic in the making!

The subject (former) member must be long gone.

Good thing she is no longer banned.

Taking Kay's cue (tongue twister), this can become a thread about absence.

Jane Fonda, on the anniversary of her late father Henry's death, declared "Absence makes the heart grow Fonda."

Good idea. Will have to stockpile some Dashe.

Who else makes a decent zinfandel? It seems like there should be a widely available, inexpensive, unspoofed zin out there for everyday drinking. Years ago the Cline old vines had some rustic charm but the last time I tried it seemed glossy and smoothed out. And cut with syrah. Same goes for Ravenswood.

Bets on impeachment?

This talk is ridiculous and premature. Katy has done neither high crimes nor misdemeanors, unless being fabulous is a high crime these days.
