Pittsburgh on Wednesday March 15

I made a similar request for Pittsburgh a few years ago and there was not much of a local Disorderly crowd, but perhaps things have changed!

I'll be in town for work next week and have a free evening on Wednesday March 15 for dinner and drinks, if anyone is available?

Indeed. The conference dinner on Thursday is at a restaurant (Legume) that is supposedly good. But I'm sure the wine situation will be far inferior to your Thursday event at RC. Which I will try to forget!

legume may have a few disorderly wines.
 
We met Jeff for dinner several years ago when he had business in Coraopolis. I brought a premoxed Chablis but we did have a nice Cavarodes.

Wednesday night may be tough, I'm on the road to State College that day but I'll be back early evening. I'll pm you if I can arrange being back at a reasonable time.

The only other disorderly works for WVU in Morgantown which is a 3 hour round trip.

The Eat n' Park in Squirrel Hill used to be very amenable to BYO until "The Incident." We then moved to the Primanti's in the Strip District, but their corkage fees eventually went through the roof. Still, fries and slaw ON the sandwich? Amazing. Might be worth it for a one-off.

I'm surprised you spent time in Pittsburg. It must have been while attending Pitt.

Ah, two places I knew well. We were regulars at that Eat 'n' Park when my daughter was little. Thanks to our previous president, Parkhurst does the food service at my university, and the cafeteria used to sell those Eat 'n' Park smile cookies they used to give to kids. Nostalgia..

I got to the Strip Primanti Bros. less often, but those sandwiches *must* be experienced.

That Eat n' Park had the benefit of being the only 24-hour place open in the 80s in an otherwise very sleepy early-to-bed city (other than the Dirty O's in Oakland, which was a little... rustic), so it was constantly packed with wasted college students at 3 a.m.
 
I can't make it to dinner Wednesday night, but maybe the third try will work out. Rahsaan I hope your flights workout ok.
I'm not crazy about Primanti's and prefer the hipster Thin Man Sandwiches in the Strip.

No worries, I know how it is.

And travel should be interesting. I fly tomorrow, when hopefully the weather will have calmed. But I don't have any work appointments until Thursday, so there is a margin of flexibility.

FWIW, I had a lovely beet and manchego sandwich at Thin Man Sandwiches. (As a lover of vegetables, I was excited to see something slightly different, because I've never seen beets take center stage in a sandwich)

Dinner at Legume was delicious, but we had a group menu with pre-selected (house) wines. I debated pulling out my credit card to pay for my own stream of beverages, but that seemed a bit anti-social and not really in the spirit of this crowd. And I survived!
 
Question, here: why is there such loathing for beets? The combo sounds great.

No idea about the anti-beet crowd. My only reservation is that sometimes they take a long time to prepare with all the peeling, depending on how many I need to cook and how much time I have for dinner. But otherwise they are great.

This sandwich had golden beets, which I find particularly easy to like. (And not as dangerous on the stain front)
