I used to know how to make a drink called Frog Brains. It was a shot glass of peach schnapps, into which you carefully pour some Bailey's, and then, using a spoon, dribble a bit of grenadine syrup over it.

Not brains, but the pig face at Girl & The Goat last night was tremendous. Joseph Swan Mancini Ranch 2012 was hitting it too. The antithesis of the smack-you-in-the-face CA gobs of Zin style, this was well-balanced with a pure fruit palate and some earth on the finish underpinned by firm acidity that cut through the richness of all the pork and goat products we consumed. I had not had this before but will be having it again.

Oh, I've so wanted to go to that restaurant, but every time I've been to Chicago it's been on relatively short notice and there were no reservations to be had.
Reservations literally get gobbled up 90 days in advance (which is what we did). I think they may be able to accomodate some walk-ins with outdoor patio seating (and there was a large group sitting in the 'waiting area' chairs eating last night as well as the bar being walk-in) but that's obviously not the same experience.

Not I. But the one time I did go 11 years or so ago was incredible. Super memorable. Hope they've smoothed out their reservation system in the intervening years.

That is about the time we went. It was indeed amazing food. And the "reservation system" was going early afternoon with a sixpack of good beer and try to schmooze him into giving you a reservation.

That sounds nearly as vile as a shot someone once gave me at a billiards hall in Charleston, SC. It was called a gorilla fart and made with Yukon Jack and other stuff that I can't remember because what does it really matter what else was in it?
