TN: Antoniolo 1964 Gattinara "Santa Chiara"

Antoniolo 1964 Gattinara "Santa Chiara" - I'm in old nebbiolo heaven: amazingly, there is fruit still, kinda raspberry but kinda bitter, very vinous, some earth but not much, gentle tannins and vigorous acidity, decanted for a half-hour before serving but hits its stride at two hours, nose is tutti-frutti (though leaning red) and face-powder; I'm drinking it from my fanciest Riedel glass (nyah-nyah!)

One curious tidbit:

Jamie and the staff at CSW do us such a service by sourcing these delicious, interesting older Piemonte bottles. Nice Vallana offering today.

They do, indeed (...though this particular bottle came from R-Squared).

I love Ryan & Ray.

I have 2 bottles of the 70 Antoniolo Gattinara from them, one of which has been standing for three weeks and is in the queue. Looking forward to it.
