Burgundy Lineup w/multi-course dinner (menu)

Jay, you would do well to wait a few (10?) years on the Amoureuses '01. It was and will be for a long time quite remarkable. (Caveat: I'm not very good at predicting future drinking windows plus, as you know, numerous variables e.g. storage, provenance, etc. enter into the equation.)

Since I only have 1 more bottle I think I'll take that advice.

Jonathan, thanks!

A native French lawyer/epicurean (who even has a well-known [in France] French name) translates the English menus into French. He does it free gratis, which is nice.

It is often not easy. He said he was especially flummoxed trying to translate the white chocolate caviar concoction (which item, by the way, was a huge hit with everyone).

Knowing him well, I know he would be amused...

I'm sorry but I think you've been tricked; there is absolutely no way a native French speaker could possibly make that many errors in such a short menu.

Josh, not sure what your thrust is.

I have traveled with this person extensively in France and he speaks fluently with the restaurateurs, winegrowers, etc., etc. there. Many of them, recognizing his name and fluency, treat him like royalty...which is actually kind of fun to watch.

Sure. But Pete does not seem like a lying man. And look no further than these wine boards to see that there are no limits to the errors that people can make when writing in their native language.

If anything, it makes these dinners that much more hilarious. Because it does seem that their MO is to make no sense. While drinking fancy wine!

Sources tell me that the Politburo has met in a secret bunker to begin discussions on changing the name of Wine Disorder to Pete's Dinner Menu. Coincidentally, Pete's Dinner Menu is also the name of an obscure short film written and directed by Lars Von Trier's second cousin Soren (uncredited, of course) in the Dogme 95 style.

You sure that isn't Søren?
