Cobb Wines recently had a promotion that included temp-controlled shipping at this time, so I took advantage of it. Alas, the shipment went onto the un-air conditioned UPS truck here at 6 AM and wasn't delivered until 4:18 thereby exposing it to 95 or more degree heat for several hours. And, yes, the bottles were quite warm to the touch when delivered...obviously damaged goods.
I brought all of this to the attention of the Cobb Wines order department and they promptly agreed to replace the order (in the Fall, needless to say). This, of course, was the right thing for them to do; even so, their honorableness was/is much appreciated and worthy of broadcasting.
Speaking of Cobb Wines, I can't remember if I've mentioned this here before. When a group of us were touring Sonoma County a few months ago, the producer who most caught my fancy was Ross Cobb with his Cobb Pinot Noirs. Since then, I've bought a good bit of these wines and continue to be quite pleased.
