This stuff rocks! So pure. So light. Blossoming violet flowers with just a touch of pepper. Went great with braised lamb shanks.

My last taste almost 3 years ago was still quite primary though lovely pure fruit, not much complexity to nose, acid still protruding. Sounds like the time has come to try another!

anyone have the 2000 recently?

Not me, but 2001 couple of weeks ago had good intensity and plenty of pure fruit to balance moderate acidity. More interesting the next day, and better days are clearly ahead.

Rob and Ilene Adler brought a bottle to dinner. Marc Criden and his girlfriend were in town so Rob put together a small jeebus with Jon Cook and Kira.

The '00 is doing quite nicely. The acidity seemed to poke out a bit. The fruit has taken on just a touch of secondary notes (violets, pork products). I don't see it going on the downside for a few years. If you have enough of it, I'd try a bottle in a year just to see if the acidity tones down a bit. It was darn tasty so opening one now wouldn't be a crime.

That's my benchmark in C-R.
I wouldn't disagree; my recent bottle of the 2001 was breathtakingly lovely.
