Books on the wines of Piemonte?

Any of you got recommendations of books on the wines of the Piemonte? Ideally, they would be somewhat like what JLL does for the N Rhone: extensive background on the terroir, producers and their cellar practices. Less important are reviews of specific wines. Especially critical is a recent book that takes into account the stylistic changes taking place at various addresses.

Kerin O'Keefe's might be less encyclopedic than you're looking for, but otherwise fits the bill.

Yes.

And in my opinion the Slow Food outfit's Wine Atlas of the Langhe is half-interesting, half a discursive mess.

Agreed, a really worthwhile resource. Her book on Brunello is likewise good.

Has anyone taken a close look at Masnaghetti’s Barolo book?

It's useful, I think. There's a section in the back that shows each vineyard broken down by who owns which parcel within said vineyard. So you can really see which producer is at what elevation, what exposure, etc within any vineyard in Barolo. At the very least, it's a good rabbit hole to crawl into for a month or so. I certainly plan on purchasing the Barbaresco book at some point based on the Barolo book.

If you're into highly detailed maps and looking for a concise overview of each of Barolo's crus then it's well worth having as part of your library.
