A Nice Evening!

We did it right this evening...

Great showing for this lovely 49 year-old trophy that was a pure
delight. Opened with Duran and did not decant (thankfully on
both counts). Tons of sediment but decanting would have
diminished the exuberance that was still present with this, as
expected, fairly evolved bottle.

Served with prime beef tenderloin, foie gras, sauteed pear, and
edamame, then chocolate cupcake...

Agreed! I expected my bottle of '68 to be eminently viable, and it was. But this bottle was probably a smidgen past its peak. I've always rated the 3 classics as follows from best to least best -- '69, '68, and '70.
