Wine theory proves true

This is really very old news. Marketers have known about the way raising the price on an item can increase sales for years. Other things no doubt determine our sense of quality, but you'd have to be pretty blind to reality not to think that perception of price, by itself, also does.
 
Interesting factoid! A friend of mine has a winery not far away and his wines are on the wine list at one of the most exclusive restaurants in town. The vintner and the restaurateur visited together about sub par sales of the wine and decided to bump the price. Sales jumped noticeably.

not interesting. and not news either. such an old story. if you are selling luxury your price has to be 'luxurious". duh.
