The Usual Mess

The Wine Spectator Top 100 list. I note:

- Ch. Coutet Barsac, at position 3, is a surprise given how poorly sweet wine does at auction and in stores.

- Dom Huet Demi-Sec Le Mont, at position 6, is a bad surprise because points-monkeys are going to rush to buy it (...driving prices up and exhausting supplies).

- Champagne managed to crawl up to position 87, almost as if the category was ignored.

- Riesling appears in five positions: 31 = Finger Lakes, 33 = Australia, 78 = Austria, 95 = Germany, 99 = Germany. Really?

- No Burgundy. A minor bottle of Burgundy in position 83.

- No Barolo (there is one Barbaresco, at position 61).

for the 30th consecutive year, I am pleased to report that Edmunds St John does not have a single wine listed among the Wine Spectator's Top 100!

Way to go, Steve! I knew you could do it.

Not a single bottle of Burgundy?

Faiveley's Clos des Myglands Mercurey makes an appearance in the low 80s. Clearly the finest red Burgundy of recent note.

Edit: when is wine disorder coming out in a mobile app? It takes serious skills to post from a phone.

J.-A. Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé at #43. Anyone have any idea if Ferret had any wines on the list when Colette was alive and the wine were IMO far better?
