All you need are one or two dogs of a certain breed, and they’ll do a lot of the herding for you, no?

Yes. Great Pyrenees. Essential, too, to protect from predators.

Can't go wrong with sheep. After wool, you've got cheese. Sounds like a rather cool adventure. 'Cool' being the operative if you've grown soft by the Carolina climate.

All true. It is too difficult, actually, to do it in NC because of the warm, damp climate which makes the control of parasites a pain. What's more, there is a huge demand for entire, cured sheep pelts in Nordic countries. They use them when sitting in cafes or at home in all seasons.

Wow, I learn a lot of amazing facts about Norway here!
Here come two more!

Norway does not rank high in hops production. Mark may be establishing the national standard.

Norwegian traditional brewing, presumably why Mark is growing hops, appears to be a not-so-easy art, even if there are many styles to choose from.

There appears to be a lot of interest in micro-breweries - at least that was my impression. I had had very good beers from Haandbryggeriet before ever going to Norway and nice, homemade-style brews from Graff Brygghus when I was in Tromsø last year.
