TN: Accomasso Barbera

Azienda Agricola Accomasso, Barbera D'Alba Pochi Filagn , 2011. I have long wanted to taste this producer's wines but this is my experience. At 15.5% alcohol there's heat here and i wouldn't want to drive anywhere after a couple glasses but the fruit and acidity intertwine to create a complexity here that's truly unique. The fruit is dry, slatey, and savory and the acidity just dances on your tongue. i am not sure how to reconcile the high alcohol level here but this is the best barbera i have ever drank. wish i had many bottles of this.

I know a bar in Torino that has both Barolos.... lower in abv too. Beautiful wines.

It's too bad that barbera can tend toward being boozy (witness G. Conterno's ones at 14.5-15%), but this one sounds like it might be worth it to put up with a little bit of heat.
