TN: 1997 Pierre-Bise Quarts du Chaume

I finished off the last dessert-size pour of the 500 ml bottle I opened at The Milling Room in June. Best bottle of this wine by far, my last, still going strong after 6 months in the refrigerator standing up. Delicious, wonderful. Sort of like botrytized quince essenzia (crazy RS level) with a boatload of perfectly integrated acid.

Good bottles could be efffectively immortal.

Very nice. I would imagine he has only gotten better at making these things since then. But who knows, since so few of us have been drinking the wines in recent years.

My recollection is Papin’s politics are not quite acceptable to the WD “us” or how I gather most of “us” view the world. Do we know for a fact he votes Le Pen?

Down to my last few from 1996-97. I stopped buying years ago.

Very strong suspicion. Dressner dropped him because of his abominable political pronouncements; at least, that's what he told me.

Yep. That's precisely what he did. Godineau, too, but also because of the sulfur.

Yes, but to be fair there are many choices on the far right and FN might be too moderate in this case.

Perhaps. 'Course this was Le Pen père, not his daughter in those days (though she is certainly a classic case of putting lipstick on a pig). I believe he made some vile racist comments to Dressner, who rightly found them intolerable.
