San Francisco Recommendations?

I'm moving to San Francisco tomorrow. Any wine store, restaurant, bar, or winery recommendations?

I'm living in "Lower Nob Hill"/"Tendernob". Any good neighborhood recommendations? I'm also working near the Montgomery BART. Any good breakfast and lunch spots?

Just a few in the area where you're living:

Hai Ky Mi Gia, Turtle Tower, Pho 2000 - pho
Mensho - ramen
Saigon Sandwich - bahn mi
Liholiho - bar downstairs is great
Swan Oyster Depot
Hot Sauce and Panko - KFC
Lers Ros - Thai
Bandit - coffee/breakfast/burgers
Harris' - old school steak
House of Prime Rib - old school prime rib
Acquarello - luxe Italian

Would avoid Sam's (sorry Pete)

Downtown breakfast options are pretty limited. Many more options at lunch. Check out SF Eater.

Aww, Sam's is a nice slice of history, true old school SF. The kitchen's a bit stodgy, but pretty good if you just get a simple grilled or broiled fish (the sturgeon was excellent last year).

Not quite your neighborhood, but close:
La Folie, where Roland Passot still carries the nouvelle cuisine torch in a good way.
Gioia Pizza, if you need a New York style slice.
Souvla - good greek "fast food" with fun wines by glass.
Aquitaine - Gascon cooking and Southwest wines
 
Last time I was in San Francisco, Claude and I ate at Kin Khao and the food was spectacular. Wine list was pretty damn good, too, though Claude brought some of his own stash so we only bought one bottle off the list.
 
No love for Petit Crenn or Crenn? We haven't been to Crenn, but Petit Crenn is terrific - food exceptional. We had a cidre off the list that was perhaps the best we've ever had.

Just there a week ago.

And speaking of Claude - where is he?

To each his own. Mostly frozen fish.
 
Re wine stores, don’t forget that Flatiron has a location in the Embarcadero Center.
Oh, and south of Market, on New Montgomery, Trou Normand has a lovely Disorderly-friend wine list.

Flatiron is actually on New Montgomery, close to Trou Normand.

Been to Petit Crenn a couple times and not impressed. Expensive for what it is. Not close to Petit Trois in LA.

Yule, we should organize a Jeeb to welcome you to the Bay, perhaps sometime in February?

Love Atelier Crenn, one of my favorite restaurants. However at $350 person and impossible to reserve without advance notice it is not for everyone.
 
San Francisco is close to NYC for the best food city in the country.

Here are some of my favorites:

Overall Favorite Restaurant: State Bird!

A close second to State Bird is Commonwealth.

The new Tartine Manufactory is outstanding although I have only been for breakfast and Lunch.

As others have said La Ciccia is great.

Izakaya Rintaro

In Oakland Ramen Shop (started by two Chez Panisse Alums after traveling around Japan studying Ramen)
