Good stuff, Jeff. I'm looking forward to seeing all the suppliers at the Bowler tasting. Surprised there was no Cazin there. I know the '15 Cuvee Renaissance just came in. Looking forward to trying it.

I am too. I've been underwhelmed with all since the '08. Got any favorites since that vintage?

Just realized I never responded to you.

To be honest, the '08 was the last I purchased, too. I didn't love the '09 on release, but, in retrospect, that may be my favorite after the '08 and I'd put '10 and '14 below that. I'll probably be trying the '15 Friday or Saturday and will report back.

Can you clarify? I feel my cellar is lacking in romorantin and was planning on grabbing some Cazin. The best bottles of "romo" I've had have been Cazin.

Agreed. I love Cazin's Cuvee Renaissance, but I have found more recent vintages a bit too big and sweet. The '96 and '08 are amazing. The '04 was pretty great, too.
Maybe - they tend to shed residual sugar like Chenin DS with age. But yes and yes. And yes.

Here was my emphatic, possibly minority opinion on ‘04 two years ago:

TN: Dressner event (Mar 25, 2018)It is the Dressner Attack, Occupy Spoof, the PIH Benefit...

Arianna Occhipinti, Sicilia
2016 Terre Siciliane "SP68" Bianco... 1; very flowery, overwhelming for me
2016 Terre Siciliane "SP68" Rosso... 0.5;
2015 Terre Siciliane Nero d'Avola "Siccagno"... 2; the name refers to the bush training of the vines, this is much more hearty and well-rounded than you might imagine

Took a bottle of the 2016 SP68 Rosso to a byob place in Bryn Mawr and could perhaps divine why our peripatetic reported graced it with 50 basis points. Lightly bretty, with barnyard & leather (so far so good), thin-bodied and reedy, with enough volatility to register as honest with your average natural wine Johnny-come-lately, it nevertheless functioned well as food thinner.

hardly a ringing endorsement for a producer who was pretty much revered not too long ago.

Funny, I thought the '16s were the best versions of them that I had ever had and Josie used them at Manuel's 50th birthday party this past April.

I only meant to confirm a single impression of Jeff's, and didn't mean to diss anything other than this particular wine in this particular vintage as it is drinking currently.
