Ian, I was very impressed with Gilles Courcel and his wines. Let me organize my thoughts (from memory) and report back when I have more time.

Gilles Courcel was very personable in a "farmer" (intended to be complimentary) fashion. I kidded him a bit about the unusual aspect of his Fremiers '15 being cheaper than the Fremiers '14. He laughed and said he doesn't worry about dollars. Then he mused that the '14 was handled by a different importer which probably explains the difference.

From sketchy memory...

Domaine de Courcel Bourgogne Blanc '14 -- Absolutely delightful true expression of Chardonnay with no pretense. [VG+]

Domaine de Courcel Pommard Les Fremiers 1er Cru '14 -- Tight youthfulness but offering up flavorful notes nicely balanced. [E]

Domaine de Courcel Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru '11 -- Appealing roundness with a good abundance of flavors buffering the tannins. [E]

Domaine de Courcel Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru '14 -- Straightforward presentation true to the fruit and ample tannins. [E]

Domaine de Courcel Pommard Grand Clos des Epenots 1er Cru '07 -- Showing more power but in a gentle way, lots of character. [E+]

Domaine de Courcel Pommard Grand Clos des Epenots 1er Cru '13 -- Concentrated (almost ponderous) but with nice personality. [E]

The Bourgogne was really a nice wine, definitely goes in the cart.

The Epenots '07 was clearly the wine of the night on my card...and also goes in the cart.

The Epenots '13 seemed to be a favorite among several knowledgeable wine folks.

General note -- with the exception of the '07, all of the red wines showed really young and will need lots of cellaring patience.

It was nice to become better acquainted with Domaine de Courcel and meet Gilles.

Will you be reporting? I've been curious about Courcel for a while.

Claude Kolm is a big fan and I've liked the ones I've had (which doesn't include anything recent).

I have very little experience with Courcel. The only wine I own is the 2010 Grand Clos des Epenots, and I have some hope for positive development after tasting it and the ‘09 young.

They make, or at least used to, the elusive Pommard Les Croix Noires, if not as well as a certain guy in Chambolle.

Pavel, yes, Courcel still makes it. As you suggest, it is not generally considered to be among Courcel's best offerings quality-wise...but still no slouch!

I really like the Courcel style - confounds the notion that Burgundy needs to be dainty to have the classical virtues. Wish they were cheaper though.

Last night we had a 2011 Courcel Croix Noires and it was really quite lovely.
