2000 Verset Cornas

Shamefully, maybe, a first for me. But I liked it quite a bit. Opened up with olive and meaty notes which then turn into pickled tomatoes that, surprisingly, did not bother me. And everything is nicely balanced. A bit of a stretch at $45 or so but OK...

Questions:

1. Where is the fruit?
2. Should there be any fruit?
3. Do I care?

By the way, on release that 2000 Verset Cornas tasted like highly-acidic blueberry wine, no olive, no dirt, no meat. It was bizarrely compelling. Now it tastes like compelling Cornas.

I often serve kosher pickled tomatoes with compelling Cornas. Although, sometimes it can be a metallic match.

Seems like a tough food and wine pairing. Is this a French tradition or something you learned about reading food-and-wine blogs?

I picked it up on the old WLDG Food board from Tom Troiano.

Wasn't he the same guy who used to post as "M. Bater," but then one night forgot and left his regular auto-sig on his pseudonymous post?

Anonymity: ur doin it rong.

Wow! That's almost as bad as using the wrong PGP signature on a Usenet Joe job. Amatoors...pffft.

I am afraid to drink my remaining Verset Cornas because I know I can never get more. He is the aging icon I will miss most, in view of the pleasures he has given me across many vintages.
