Sorry, Ian, I no longer drink bubblies, fizzies, or the like. Everyone seemed to be thrilled with the Vilmart.

Instead, I was quite content to drink an early pour of the Domaine Blain-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets '10 which was singing.

I always found them a bit too opulent. A good, inexpensive option is

I like this quite a bit; it was previously known as Carte Rouge. Good farming, too. If you live in CA it was also imported by K&L and sold at a very low price. (not sure if that is still the case, though).

I'll see if I can find a bottle to try. I won't post notes here, however, lest you point out all the errors in them. [smile emoticon here]

I'm thinking of selling off many of my still wines now, but have decided that drinking a bottle of Champagne at he beginning of the month, from different vignerons, is money well-spent - in the spirit of Keynes. The Vilmart, however, would mark about the top end of my personal price range. I think Envoyer has it for not too much (tho maybe not after their shipping, which use to be very high)

The Coeur de Cuvée may be my favorite Champagne, even more than Ledru Goulté. We had a bottle for our anniversary that was fantastic. I like what the oak does for these wines although I realize it might not be everyone's thing.

I've been finding that Savart sratches a lot fo the same itches for a lot less $$.
