The 05 Breton Chinon Beaumont was open and delicious this week, with some ripe fruit and a little dried herbs. Lively and easy to drink with good tannins. An ideal Chinon.

Another year gone by, and no fatboy's festive favorites.
Sigh.

It's not too late!

The deadline for Fatboy's Festive Favorites was always New Year's Eve/Day.

Many of us live in hope, because it's all we have.

Nice. Will you be holding on to more of these? I always wondered how they aged in comparison to the other bottlings.

Well. The 2002 is drinking very well right now. I opened a 2004 last night, but it was reduced (neo-cork) so I moved on to something else. I'll check in tonight. Other bottles have been lovely.

My bottle had a plastic cork, but more important is I like how it tastes now, so I will probably drink the other 2 bottles I own pretty soon.

I didn't squirrel away a big stash, only bought three bottles.

Neo-cork is more permeable than average bark. Should be oxidized over time, rather than reduced. Screwcaps have reduction problems, more typically.

Hmmm. Is it not neo-cork then? Maybe I am mistaking Brett for reduction.

How many bottles are in a "stash"?

Who's in charge of turning on the fatboy signal?

jb (who's still giggling at the thought of Dressner saying "sweet")
