Burgundy beating Bordeaux

Burgundy is battering Bordeaux

Something unprecedented has happened in the world of high-end
wines: Bordeaux is on the outs.

In 2017, wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France slipped
below 50 percent of Sotheby’s total wine auction sales for the first
time in the auction house’s history. Prestige producers from the
region, including Ch“teau Mouton Rothschild and Ch“teau Latour,
used to dominate the market.

The change can be attributed to the surging popularity of wines
produced in the Burgundy region, which are led by Sotheby’s
best-selling producer of 2017, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

Burgundy beating Bordeaux

What a knowledgeable friend just told me...

The way Burgundy has been selling in recent auctions has been a huge surprise. There are bidders paying 200% of value for current vintage grand cru that is available in the retail market. I have to believe it’s a bubble. Liger-Belair La Romanee passed La Tache and is now headed towards beating DRC DRC pricing!

Do these buyers require that the wines be real, or can the labels just say La Romanee or whatever?

Guess it is time to start buying Bordeaux again.

I only recently started. And then I stopped again.

Given the tiny volumes produced, I'm surprised that it's a surprise.

Loire is the new Bordeaux.

now now, there is no reason to start calling Guiberteau and Rougeard names.

they makes nice wines, if not for everyone.

Not for everyone because they're massively dunked in oak or because they've become too expensive?

The use of the logical "or" is puzzling at best.

Only if you meant both, so now I know you meant both.
