Maureen, maybe I was in just the right mood...all of these wines, in my view, showed above expectations.

The Leroy Borgogne might have been one of the best reception wines I can recall having, especially at its pedigree. Unqualifiedly delicious, superb roundness.

Similarly the St Aubin Remilly '09 was impressively fresh, racy, scintillating, medium weight with enough fullness, nimble, in a very good place right now. Serve with confidence.

The Bienvenues-Batard Montrachet '13 kept on keeping on, very full while still being finesseful (sorry, I've always like this word), ample firmness and grip, excellent balance bodes well for current or future drinking.

The Pommard Epeneaux '07 was not the wine of the night, but it transcended its vintage, fit nicely in its drinking window, no edges, fine mouth feel, good length, definitely quite smooth, quite a surprise as it surpassed expectations.

Bonnes Mares '06 was by a producer, Bruno Clair, I really like, both him personally and his wines, just the rough side of elegant, deep dark fruits that buffer the remaining tannins, a pretty wine that definitely measured up.

As for drinking windows, none of these wines seemed in danger of fading anytime soon.
