Kirk visits Helsinki

I have forgotten how to do TNs, but Kirk was in Helsinki recently so I guess I need to:

Claus Preisinger Weissburgunder 2016
Hazy colour. Really lovely aromas but very pure minerality. Quite a rich palate with good acidity. Very clean and pure compared to how it looked. Lovely.

Domaine Agnes et Rene Mosse Rose Petillant Naturel "Moussamoussettes" 2015
This was perhaps the most fun wine I've had in years. Pink and fizzy, very slight sugar noticeable, all fun and no seriousness.

Emidio Pepe Trebbiano 2014
This was lovely. Tannic and grippy but still really refreshing.

Fanny Sabre 2014 1er Cru Beaune
Really pretty, elegant Pinosity, I have no idea what vintages are like but seems like a cooler one.

Cotar Merlot 2016
Cotar is usually fantastic. Their Teran is low in alcohol and is sour and is just the greatest wine ever. This however smelled of new oak. Horrible.

You don't strike me as the type! I would think it comes as second nature.

Otherwise, nice haul of wines. I presume it was more than just the two of you!

Just the two of us drinking. Though not whole bottles. Most were available by glass. But we Finns are a thirsty lot.

Maureen, this was a couple weeks earlier (I'm just slow and lazy doing anything like posting) and certainly didn't come across as Trumpian.

Otto, if you know kirk and anything about Trump you must have known i was kidding n

Otto is an excellent guide and dinner companion. He picked a newish resto with excellent food and a superb list. Fittingly called “wino.” I think Otto and I could have gone there three nights in a row and only scratched the surface of their list.

And, Otto, it was a treat to introduce you to the Moussamoussettes. I agree with you completely about it. And I also agree that the Pepe and the Sabre were terrific.

Helsinki’s a great visit, if anyone needs encouragement. (Especially when no dictators and wannabes are in town.)

Kirk, it was great to meet you and drink lots of wine. That restaurant/wine bar is really a gem. I need to revisit soon.

Jeff? Clarinet? Not an instrument I've ever touched. :)

Ooh, you're right. No reeds. Recorder!

Double reeds, too, I believe. I seem to recall a photo of a bassoon (contrabassoon?) in the distant past.

That pic was a contrabass recorder. I only play flutes and recorders.
Ah, my bad. Because my son is an oboist, I now see double reeds everywhere.
