Texier Serine Question

I know that Eric visits this bored every so often and figure even if he doesn't see this, someone else may have info:

What is the deal with recent vintages of the St. Alban and Pergaud Serine bottlings? Last I've seen were 2013 for each. Bowler lists a 2014 Pergaud Serine as available, but I don't think I've ever seen it sold anywhere and there are no bottles listed in Cellartracker. Some folks on CT claim to have bottles of 2014 St. Alban, but they may be mistaken.

I do have a bottle of 2015 St. Alban, but there's no reference to Serine and it was a lower price point, so I expect it's a different cuvee.

Any info appreciated. I suppose David Zylberberg may have bought it all.

I'm not Eric, but I'll take a stab at this... Now I'm a bit confused. We show 2013 Brézème Serine in stock in our warehouse, and it would have come in this winter. Though I haven't laid my hands on it personally so I can't confirm vintage, though I suspect that's correct.

As for the St. Julien en St. Alban, there's the regular which should be equivalent to the CdR from Brezeme at a similar price point, 2015 being current release, as well as the Vielle Serine which I don't know when it's actually being released, but 2014 DI order (for both 2014 Vielle Serines) was this spring. So I suspect that the both of the 2014 Vielle Serine bottlings plus the VV Rousanne are either out now or in the pipeline to be out soon.

Cheers,

Kevin

The Pergaud bottlings are made from old, non clonal vines both in Brézème and St Julien (le Clau vinyard). The reds are bottled after 3 years of aging in foudre and 6 months in bottle. 2014 Brézème Pergaud and St Julien were released in april 2018.

The plain bottlings are from younger vineyards (le Mas and L'Hospital in St Julien), planted with clones in the 80s and 90s and serine massale planted or grafted during the past 7 years.
These are aged 18 months in concrete and released right after bottling. 2016 are on the market since december 2017.

Current releases are :
2014 Pergaud serine Brézème and St Julien
2015 Pergaud Brézème Roussanne and St Julien Marsanne
2016 Brézème and St Julien reds
2017 Brézème Roussanne

I am very aware of gaps in vintages on many markets in the US but have very low influence on the local distributors purchase policies.
This is not going to improve with the liliputian yields of 2017 and the high demand outside US...

Cheers

Thanks, Eric. I can't see the 2014s available anywhere in the U.S. on Wine-searcher. Maybe they just haven't arrived yet. I didn't appreciate how long the elevage is on these wines. I drank a 2010 St. Alban Pergaud wine this week and, while young, it was a wonderful, expressive, delicious wine. Thanks for the great work!
