Sharon has left us too

Very sad news.

I took this picture ten years ago this coming November. It's hard to fathom that the three of them are no longer with us.

That picture makes me think of why we traveled to NY each fall. I'm glad to see that Brad is taking and not in the picture. NY "stay well"

Thanks for posting this, Brad. Yes, it's tremendously sad that we've lost three as well as Joe Dressner. The bored will never be the same, but fortunately we have our memories, their posts here and your photos to remember them by. Years ago, I wrote to the Politburo with the idea of creating linked archives of memorable posts by our late members on this site. Since I now have no earthly idea who the Politburo now is, I'll just publicly put this idea back out to see if anyone thinks it would be worth doing.

I'm not a Politburo member or even a lowly clerk in their massive bureaucracy, but I think it's a good idea.

Mme and I are so, so sorry about this. I am conflicted about even posting something, and frankly rereading this it seems superficial and trite relative to the magnitude of reality. I'm not sure I can write anything with the gravitas and erudition it deserves. But what the hell.

Somehow the fact that Oswaldo brought back Sharon's Franzen post just before she died seems a propos. She had so much soul.

I did not know Sharon well, but I was lucky to have tea with her when I was in NY a couple months ago (in fact just before the jeeb). Both that time and a prior jeeb provided a bit of time to get to know her a little. I remember her from way back in the, yes, eCENSORED days when she was winegirl (did she post as winegirl or winegrrl?) with I believe a photo of her at a picnic at Chenonceau or some such in the background. Captivating, to say the least.

I always appreciated her willingness to jump in and have fun. Our weird inside joke had to do with quilting, and just thinking about it makes me very sad.

This one's for Sharon:

I will miss her, a lot.

I'm sorry for the pain Sharon must have been in, and that she couldn't find another pathway to relief. I'm sorry for the pain of loss those close to her are experiencing.

I'm glad she was a part of my life, even at a distance, and will miss her.
