Just saw a Crush offer for this producer, but I have no experience with Carema outside of Ferrando. Anyone know anything about this cooperative?

I had both the 2013 normale and riserva and the latter is a step up to me. Old fashioned coarseness to it, refreshing and invigorating but not easy on the palate. Candied cherries, licorice, some grapefruit citrus. In the $20's they represent pretty good value and at least with the riserva the prospects of midterm aging. I'd buy again.

I haven't had the riserva, but the 2013 normale was brisk, as Marc opines. I may have liked it more than he did. I found it to have some real resonance and would be fine for 5-10 years of development maybe, but that's not how I'll use it. It is a 2-3 year wine for me. Coarser than many current Alto Piedmont wines, including Ferrando, but not old school rustic, nebbiolo coarse. I found the acidity to be bright as well.
 
Sometimes people whisper that certain other labels have their wines made at the co-op facility. Not sure how much truth there is to that.
 
I bought one of these once several years ago from somewhere to try it out - asking the same question you are asking. Don't recall the year; dim recollection was that it was high-acid, not bad, but not impressive enough to pursue. Fell short of my recollection of Ferrando White. FWIW.
 
I had a 1968 green label last night. Fairly simple tart red fruit, nothing really stands out or brings distinction, but it is still alive and isn’t at all unpleasant.
