My cellar Croix Boisée vertical begins in 09, so I'll be patient a while longer.

I've had the 2009 recently and it was great. If you have multiple bottles, I'd crack one now.

turns out I don't have any 2009 CB

road trip?

I've got a lone bottle. Enough to lure you out to flyover country?

I have 07, 08, 09, 10, 12, and 14. Enough to lure you to the Center of the Universe?

We could do quite the Baudry-fest. Checking CT, I have the 09 (G, CB), 11 (G, CB, FDP), 14 (G, CB, CG) and 15 (G, CG) and the 17 rosé. If we can rope Pavel and The Monkey in, that'd probably make a hell of a Baudry matrix.

Drank Pavelot’s 08 Guettes from half bottle in a restaurant a couple of weeks ago and I found it noticeably tannic.

"2016 Giovanni Canonica Langhe Nebbiolo - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC (10/25/2018)
Really interesting wine. I was hoping for something maybe a little more lush and while this will not be confused with Barolo, it was a bit on the lean and structured side. As it got some air it developed some interesting savory notes with more fruit. For some reason, it struck me as akin to tea. I wonder if this natural nebbiolo is a big hit in the Japanese market. (89 points)"

I've been lucky enough to taste and buy a handful of this nebbiolo from 2013 forward. i think they are terrific. but definitely need a couple years of bottle age to show their stuff.

I've got a couple more bottles and I'll let them sit for a while but I'm not sure I'll buy more. It's about the same price as C&G Bramaterra.

i love C&G too. but i enjoy varietal nebbiolo more i think. that said the Canonica Nebbiolo has escalated in price and is pretty allocated these days. much like Capellano Nebbiolo. luckily i have s source.

Of earlier vintages I think I have 05 and 97 but would have to confirm. Maybe 02 as well?

I have CB going back to 10 and Grezeaux going back to 11 (which is drinking well now for me) plus some others, so I could join in.

We do Baudry mini-verticals every year at Southern Jeeb. Maybe I could try to get Matthieu here this year.

I have many Baudry wines.

I’ve heard that. Seriously, throw in a whole hog BBQ and I’ll book my travel right now.

“Digestible” - euphemism of the week.
Best, Jim

It's a term that winemakers I visit in France use a lot and I find that it really fits the feeling of some wines.

Are these the same winemakers using Crisco when they make Gougères?

Here are my holdings. No guarantees but with enough notice I'd try to attend.

Croix Boisee

1997
2005
2010
2012

Interesting idea. I'm assuming you end up with a flakier pastry?

Perhaps. I was alluding to the company's early advertising: "Crisco - it's digestible!

I'd love to be a part of this too (subject to date/location). Among other things I could contribute:
05, 10, or 11 Croix Boissee
12 Grezeaux
09 Franc de Pied or Guillot

Ah, got it.

But now you have me wondering how they would turn out. Maybe I'll try a batch with half/half.
