2007 Tintero Sori Gramella Moscato dAsti , alc 5%: A single vineyard Moscato...green tinged...soft and light with a delicate sweetness...lightly sparkling ..white fresh pears and a floral character.. not cloying in any way
With Cheeses: Manchego, Bucheron and Cathedral de Meaux
2007 Scholium Project Naucratis Lost Slough Vineyard (Verdelho), alc 14.9%: A little funky with waxiness upon first opening...fresh with a toastiness (always in stainless steel however) initially a little sweet but this disappates and it turns more serious with quince, rind, etc needs time to open up
With Roasted Cauliflower soup with black truffle oil
1989 Pierre Gimmonet et fils Les Cuvees de lan 2000 Champagne Brut, alc 12%
The very tiniest of bubbleshas the color of an aged still Chardonnayfresh baked bread on the nose great structurelemon curd, orange zest, early nuttiness and a chalky minerality on the palate a long finishseems right at the edge of showing secondary characteristics revisit in 10 yrs.
With Morris Farms Salad (home grown by Jeff and Dena except for the goat cheese and the walnuts and picked yesterday afternoon) baby carrots, green and red radish, beet leaves, white turnip, mix of lettuces, spinach, microgreen mix with a Dijon vinegarette.
1976er Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel, (375ml)
AP Nr 2 577 050 11 77 Dark golden colorinitially a little diesel/kerosene but it blew off quickly leaving a honeycomb/waxy character to the noseon the palate..dried apricots, peaches, crystallized ginger....the sweetness has fallen mostly away hovers above your tongue but on the finish it has silkly textureprobably at its pinnacle in terms of development (especially in the 12.7 oz bottle)
With Scallops with a asian pear, tawny port, bacon, cream and fennel sauce
1989 Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Tokay Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal Vendage Tardive, alc 13.75%: Shiny gold color nose of ginger, lime, etc.a lot of minerality with minimal sweetnessasian spice and ginger with citrus carry through on the palategreat with the scallop dish a really good showing for this wine
With Beef Tenderloin with a horseradish bread pudding, spinach with lemon and wild mushroom ragout
1996 Chateau Lynch-Bages, Grande Cru Classe Pauillac, ,alc 13% : Decanted for 4 hrs in the Rojaus expressive nose with graphite and cassisdelivers great pleasure on the palate with many black fruit flavors, nice texture/structure and fairly minimal tannins except at the very end of the finishclassic showing of a fine Bordeaux another wine showing very wellgreat with the medium rare beef
