Take that, AOF ad LONOG!

Gonzalez Byass Tio Pepe Fino Seco (a bottle from the 60s or early 70s)
Very nice nose, showing a touch old for me. But very interesting to try.

El Maestro Amontillado Vejez 12 years old
Beautiful, beef broth and almonds, brilliant wine, especially at the price point.
A-/A

La Bota 38 Cream
Rich, sweet, a bit simple. Not bad but it's not my thing. Had it about 5 years ago and age has neither improved nor hurt it.
B

Pedro Domecq Venerable Very Rare 30 Years VORS Pedro Ximinez
Lovely, complex, sweet, rich, suprsiingly light on the finish. German chocolate cake with brandied cherries.
Phenomenal match with the roast pork.

Probably "La Bota" autocorrected to laboratory.

You're right of course. And what is most embarrassing is that it was one of the wines I brought. And vesicular was Oloroso.

Ooh, I've never seen a vintage dated Valdespino. How was the balance, any perception of heat?

Balance was perfect, no perception of heat. My only small caveat was that the first time I had it the bottle had been open for about a day and the nose was even more magical. Only 500 bottles made.

Can you elaborate on the Florido Fino?

Not at this point, the event was 2 weeks ago already so I'm just going by my notes at this point. I do recall my initial reaction that this was a wine making a statement.
