Gents, Dams, and Whatever Else Lurks Here:

I pulled a Lessona '01 from storage and drank it last night. This bottle was perfect. The wine is lightweight with crisp acidity (still) and recognizable nebbiolo aromas and flavors (though not with the extra earthiness and oomph one would find in a barolo). I say the wine is still on the young side, only perhaps within hailing distance of maturity. I think it should keep well for 5 more years.

Another thank you to Greg D. P. for introducing me to the wine.

Great minds! I just pulled one of my last couple from storage, to take another look.

Arrrghh, here's another 2002 showing oxidized with caramel notes. The Muscadet that came in the same stash from the west coast has been consistently fantastic.

I just realized that I got the designation wrong. It was a Les Choisilles. Opened another one from the same stash last night: fresh as a daisy, lemon-zesty goodness, perhaps too soon to be opening it but a very nice bottle with upside potential.
