Drank with Hunan take-out on New Years Eve
2005 Muller-Catoir Riesling Spatlese Haardter Burgergarten
Light golden in color, clear and bright. The nose show yellow grapefruits, wet rocks and slight petrol notes which get stronger with air. Medium bodied. On the palateNice minerality but just a touch flabby. Flavors of quince, yellow grapefruits and a touch of caramel. Nice finish. Lots of fruit here, but this may be in an awkward stage. There is some acidity, but I was expecting more. Still, this improved all night long and the bottle was drained. A touch of sweetness made this a nice complement to Chinese take-out.
2005 Henry Pelle Menetou-Salon Morogues
Golden in color, clear and bright. The nose has sea air, apricots and honeysuckle. Full bodied. On the palate, this is dry with no hint of sweetness. It has a steely quality that was divisive (I liked it). Lots of yellow grapefruit with a very long finish that turns bitter at the end. I preferred this more than the rest of the group.
