Some more wines

That's a more tragic shattering than mine.

Tell me about it. The wine storage facility that did it proactively let me know right away that they would be happy to "reimburse me what I paid for the bottle." Thanks, but rather than $50, how about you go out and find me another bottle of 2007 Gonon Vieilles Vignes.

Back in the day, the old Chelsea replaced a hard to source bottle for me when they broke it. Maybe push harder?

I'll add a note: Christophe Pacalet's '18 Fleurie is a beauty, and I would judge it disOrderly, even though I am uncertain as to the origin of the grapes / must. Fresh, refreshing, charming, perfect sense of acidity: so very good with food.

This happened 6 years ago. I gave up the fight long ago, and of course wound up with just the $50. It was a different storage facility, and it happened when I was moving all of my wine out in the process of relocating from NY to DC. So they already knew they were losing me as a customer and had little incentive to source the bottle for me at what would certainly have been a higher cost than I paid. Fortunately, I still have a few more bottles of that wine.

We've been enjoying sips of the 95 Bise Beaulieu and it is damn good, a cut above. Splendid complexity, extravagant as you say.

With a limited wine budget, hard to justify keeping when I can get almost a case of Croix Boissée for the per bottle price of the Rougeard.
We're all either in the same boat or have at least thought about it.

I've certainly thought about it.

Yeah, but I've yet to pull the trigger. Maybe soon though.

I'll tell you what isn't bringing in money: Rhys. I just took a bath on Rhys, unloaded 5 cases of the fanciest ones (so I'm down to a few bottles here and there). On average, hammer price was 28% off my purchase price, so even with vig, the buyers paid 16% less than I did for me to perfectly store the bottles for years. After seller's premium, I recuperated only 59% of my money. Oh well, at least I have that space back.

I would have lost a lot of money getting against you owning 5 cases of Rhys!

This is what is more surprising than losing money on them!
