Boston dining recommendations

All, I have to make a quick trip to Boston this weekend to visit both my mother and my daughter. I left Boston more than 40 years ago and haven't spend any significant time there since then. When I left, it was a city of dreadful wine lists, but I hear rumors the situation is vastly improved.

Can anyone suggest a restaurant/wine bar with a good wine list and at least interesting food?

Thanks,
Andrew

I like Troquet, the wine list is not what it once was but it is the best in Boston and the food is good. The wine list is online.

Craigie on Main in Cambridge is also good and has a nice wine list with a good German section.

Island Creek Oyster Bar has a very good list. And when you focus on raw bar and appetizers you can have a rather good meal as well. Main courses tend to be just OK.

Eastern Standard has a similarly good list and solid food.

Oleana and Sarma I used to like a lot, but found some recent meals a bit off.

Loyal nine has some interesting/quirky food and a small but pretty drinkable wine list.

I had a fun (good food, reasonable but overpriced bottle of wine) dinner at Yvonne's, a kind of supper clubby thing downtown with some work colleagues this week. Probably better with your daughter than your mother (kind of loud).
