Josh Fontaine
Hello my name is Josh, I like drinking wine. But since I am living on a student budget the opportunity to do so does not present itself as often as I would like.
Anyway...I lived in New York for the past nine years or so until I moved to Paris four months ago. In NY I worked at September Wines on the LES for about a year until becoming asst. GM at a trendy/shitty restaurant in the West Village that is now closed following numerous terrible business decisions on the part of the ownership. While there I had the opportunity to put together an eclectic, unfocused wine list full of wines that none of our generally horrid clientele wanted to drink. But I did have the pleasure of hosting, on different occasions, Maria Luz Marin of Casa Marin as well as Captain Tumor Man (hi Joe!).
Now I live in France and I am getting my M.A. in International Affairs at the American University and the Sorbonne (Panthon). My friend and ex-coworker-who-still-works-at-September is coming to France and we are spending the weekend in the northern Rhne and Beaujolais. So far we have appointments with Lapierre and Jenny & Franois to show us around (working on a few more).
Can anyone recommend any food or must-see places (doesn't have to be wine-related necessarily) between Lyon and Beaune on a Thursday through Sunday in January? We will have a car.
Also inexpensive is crucial as we are both young and poor...when I say inexpensive I mean under 20 euros per person....
Thank you!
