recycled pulp trays or styrofoam

I'm told that recycled pulp trays serve as insulation for wine shipping about as well as styrofoam.

Any thoughts or experiences that support or dispute this contention?

I've received shipments in both and the recycled pulp is a hell of a lot easier to dispose of. I haven't noticed any difference in their performance FWIW.

Chambers has been using them for years. Styrofoam seems a dated and irresponsible material at this point.

Even my wine storage facility won't dispose of styrofoam shippers anymore.

Making napalm is always an option for used styrofoam shippers.
Can I do that in my E-Z-Bake Oven? (I think it had a 40W light bulb as its heat source.)

No heat required, Jeff. But the gasoline may be harder for you to obtain.

Yes. Styrofoam is very hard to recycle unless it's going to a remolding plant.

I always take my leftover shippers to Esquin in Seattle - they happily reuse them.

Jonathan, it's hard to imagine giving a ~$35 item instead to someone who is less friendly.

I had a friend who sometime ago traded a bunch of styro shippers to a purveyor for a pretty nice selection of wine.
