Thiese and Skurnik no more

"As you may have heard, we recently ended our business affiliation with Terry Theise. All producers from Germany, Austria and Champagne imported by Skurnik Wines will continue to be imported by Skurnik Wines and available through our nationwide network of distributors.

Gabe Clary, Vice President and Portfolio Manager for our "Germany, Austria and Champagne Estate Selections," will head up this portfolio going forward, and we have the utmost confidence in his leadership for the future. We look forward to proudly representing these great producers for many years to come.

If you have any questions, please contact your Skurnik representative."

wow.

hard to imagine this being a peaceful parting--unless terry is just plain done with the business.

and no more terry theise catalogues. uff da.

There are various suggested explanations but nothing that has been substantiated by either of the parties:
- TT is 66 years old and he wants to do something else
- the champagne sells but the German/Austrian wines don't (and Skurnik is tired of having money tied up in inventory and/or selling at closeout)

In any case, I hope TT can find another way to bring the wines to the US.

Fair enough, but then why not say so.

I'm not sure how you know that. Apart from some core items in inventory, the preponderance has always been sold on prearrival. (Although I was an exception and they held a great deal of wine in inventory for me, but I also bought a lot.)

In any case, I hope TT can find another way to bring the wines to the US.

Sounds like Skurnik will continue with the producers, but that means nothing will be the same as Terry selected the wines to be imported.

the silence regarding this development is deafening.

the man tha brought us grower champagnes, donnhoff rieslings, etc, etc., and on and on. . . .

sounds like "don't ask, don't tell".
