    An evening of Tempier

Had the 93 Tourtine last week and it was still young, though of course that is a classic Bandol vintage for long aging. It more than held it's own in a group of wines that included Jayer, Rouget, and Jasmin, so it's serious juice. Not my cellar, or tasting, alas.

Ok, this was a really bad idea

I meant the general area, not the lesser appelation, Volnay 1er Cru might be a better comparison, but no, they are not cheap.

    greek chardonnay, anyone?

Drink their Malagoussia, or their Assyrtico/Malagoussia blend. No need to worry about burgundy cognates with those.

Ok, this was a really bad idea

Mount Eden Pinots can indeed be excellent. The 2002 reminded of a Cote de Beaune from the same vintage last spring.

    Restaurant life

Not so much a question of an increase by importers/distributors as of a massive price hike on older vintages at the winery. Supply and demand, I'm afraid--they were selling too fast, and once they're gone, they're gone.

    Asimov on Crozes

The 2008 Mucyn CH(red and white) will be available in CA in about three weeks, for those curious about the property.

TN: 2006 Mt. Eden Vineyards Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains

I'm looking at a few bottles of the 2002 that I've had for a bit. Anybody opened one recently?

Three Baga-based reds from Casa de Saima in Bairrada

Although I am far from an expert on the wines of Portugal, I do have some samples from Quinta de Bageiras on their way to CA, having appreciated the wines on a recent visit, so I look forward to your notes when you post them, Oswaldo. If all goes well we may have them available in CA come July...

NV Domaine Tissot Crmant du Jura Brut

There are 75 cases on their way to CA in early June, so epileptic hipsters can see what the fuss is all about.

    Burgundian Pinot Gris?

Actually, I think Vina Ijalba already has a commercial release of white Tempranillo.

Amazing E-Mail from a Wine Retailer in Denver

He should have sent those buyers to you and you could have sold them Tissot Gewurztraminer or Lopez de Heredia Tondonio Blanco, telling them that these were bound to be the next Dagueneau. -Eden (that same evangelical zeal has worked wonders for my sales in similarly trying times) (Not sure...

Amazing E-Mail from a Wine Retailer in Denver

I spoke to a rep from the local distributor (CA) of Dagueneau that day. His cell phone was ringing off the hook all day with calls from retailers wanting to buy the wine, many of whom had never bought it before. Cherryl is not the only one in this business with tin ears.
