Los Altos, CA; Tuesday July 28

Several of us are meeting at the Los Altos Grill (233 3rd St. in Los Altos, near Palo Alto and Mountain View) at 7:30. Hope some of you can join us! The current list is:

- me
- Sandy Crozier + 1
- Cory Cartwright + 1
- Larry Stein

Post here and let us know if you're interested in coming out. Thanks!

I'm in the south bay as well (San Jose) so anything we could do here would be cool, but SF is obviously a better option for restaurants etc.

Cool!

Maybe the best restaurants for us are actually the ones with the lowest corking fees?

I haven't lived out there for years so I'm not sure I have useful restaurant opinions any more. But, that's two. Let's see if we can find a few more...

I'm interested. I live in Belmont so either SF or South Bay works for me. As a possibility, there's a terrific Beijing-style Chinese restaurant in San Mateo called Everyday Beijing. Corkage is cheap. Here's a link to a meal organized through Chowhound a couple of years ago. I just went there recently and the food was as good as ever.

I've had good Chinese in San Mateo before. I'd give it a whirl. That's three...I wonder if we should start thinking about a more precise day and maybe settle on Everyday Beijing (or some other suggestion if it comes soon).

Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday evening would be the best for me - I might be able to push it back to Sunday in a pinch if that would work better for others. I am also very free during the day since it's vacation but I suspect some of you folks work... :-)

So do any of the nights July 27-29 work for you guys?

If we can get things nailed down maybe we'll start a new thread with a precise date, place, and time and see if anyone else can be enticed out.

On the other hand it's not my neck of the woods so if one of you wants to take the lead on this (city, south bay, east bay, whatever) I'm open to that too.

I'm in the South Bay as well (San Jose). I've been to Los Altos Grill several times and they are very wine friendly (no corkage). Food is quite good.

Wednesdays are always out for me. My daughter is with me on that night of the week (joint custody thing). If that's the only night available, so be it.

I'm fine any day. We just need to get a head count and get a reservation at Los Altos Grill. They only have a couple of large tables so we should call well in advance to secure one of the large tables. They are kind of weird on reservations (only give out 2 for time slot) so we may have to wait a bit to get the table. But well worth it given corkage policy and food is quite reasonable. Mid week may be easy to get one of the large tables.

OK, cool! I can call and get a reservation at the LAG for either Monday or Tuesday and then post a new thread with the place & time and our names to see if we can lure anyone else in.

One question: how long a reservation? 6:30-8:30? Should I get a 'big table'? Or Sandy, maybe since you know the place you'd like to call so it can be done right? I too can do either M or T.

My guess is that if we reserve a table for the four of us + any guests + say 4 more we'll be fine. I'm solo.

Put me on the waiting list. My west coast swing just moved up a week.

Are we going to do monday or tues? And size of group (I saw a number 8)? I'll give them a call once we finalize day and numbers. I'm thinking M or T is probably ok with getting a table as it is early in the week.
