Jeebus in NY April 13

Yes, Brad, but you are willing to risk your life driving with Brad.

He hasn't injured me yet in a car!

Madame Claude's is a .6 mile walk from the Grove Street PATH station, so just about the same as a ten block walk. One thing to note about Madame Claude's is that their website says it's cash only.

Last time we tried it, Mme Claude was way too busy to take our group. The cash-only thing is a nuisance, and the walk feels longer than that number indicates.

As to your corrupt memory of the Minetta Tavern of old, I have just two words for you: steamed steaks.

The best of the restos listed by Jay is probably Satis Bistro but the 2-hr limit is annoying. We could each bring something to Jay's house....

If someone would like to organize some place else please offer to do so. Personally I think the food at Soul Flavors is very good and the fried chicken especially is top notch. But I am happy to let someone make other arrangements. Just let me know asap so I can cancel the reservation as they are packed on Friday nights.

It will be between 7 and 9

Jonathon
Rahsaan
Jay
Jeff
Brad
Cliff
Joe - will be there if his dentist gives the okay
Carolyn
Robert - will be there if his health allows

This is fine with me but I will need to kick everyone out by 10. I have to catch an early bus down to DC on Saturday to drink Rhys with Maureen and Keith.

Rahsaan, what manner of vegetarian are you again? Will you do shellfish? I know Robert won't.

I eat all fish, seafood, dairy, eggs, etc. But I survive in most environments, so even if fried chicken is the best dish, I'll get my nourishment from wine and socializing!

Lucky you! I could think of worse ways to spend Saturday. (Mine involves a dentist visit).

And how are you with poultry?

Last time I checked poultry was not fish, seafood, dairy, eggs or etc. Given that Rahsaan expressed a preference to deriving nourishment from wine to fried chicken I think it's safe to say he doesn't eat it.

Ok. Well, since I appear to be the instigator, I'm happy to host, if folks would prefer that. I'm thinking something like a big bowl of either shrimp or crayfish risotto with asparagus and lemon, maybe some duck legs, or a pork roast, some salad, or some kind of vegetable, maybe some tomatoes & mozzarella, especially if Robert makes it. If the softshells I've started seeing look more lively than they have so far, maybe I can throw some of those into the mix?

If folks want to go this option, let me know, or, we can stick with Soul Flavors.

If we do opt for my place, maybe start a little earlier so Jay can spend more time with us, since he has to leave earlier?

That certainly works for me. And I'm available from 6pm, FWIW.

Although if we do shift at this late stage to someone hosting, I would think that we should each bring a food contribution as well.

I'm happy to switch to Brad's place. Can I suggest that this either get arranged or declined on the email list. To my knowledge, that is the only place Robert is keeping abreast. And I at least, will need to know Brad's address.

As long as we don't have a decade's worth of Kane-Miller internecine warfare over the matter, I'll be happy at either venue.

Wow, that's right! Am I the only person on the internet who hasn't feuded with Brad before? This might be a good excuse. I'll email Manuel for some pointers.
