Southern Jeeb - IS IT TIME TO TRY AGAIN?

EDIT 2016-02-02:

What do folks think, should we have another go at this?

What say y'all?

EDIT 2015-09-14:
Due to lack of response, we'll put this off and shoot for another time, maybe in the Spring, or not. Maybe there just isn't a critical mass yet.

Count me in, though I probably need to push the date out until after July 27 as I'll be out of town on vacation the previous week. Maybe August 8, 15, or 22? I hope you can drag Blackwood out of hiding, as we threatened to get together for years and never pulled it off before I disappeared from online wine discussion only to find that he had as well upon my return. It's worth noting that DC is about 90 minutes closer to Durham than is Atlanta, so DC/NoVA disorderlies should consider joining us as well.

I'm all for early/mid August as well. I'll be out of the country for most of July, returning July 26.

Nice to see the Jeebus board put to good use for Local NC Drinking!

I keep meaning to make it down from DC at some point, so this might be as good a time as any. But kid #1 is due to arrive in mid-July, so I can only be a "maybe" for August at this point. Still, I will try my best to make it.

Should this be thematic in any way?

It may not be a bad idea, as focusing it will be the hardest part. I have older Muscadet (1997 Briords and Buster, 2000 Briords, and 1989 Luneau-Papin), older Coudert (1997 - 2000 and 2002 Tardive), older CRB (1996 - 1999 Côt and 1999 Cabernet), and older cab franc (pretty much the full Breton and Joguet lineups from 1996 and 1997, 1996 Croix Boisee, 1996 Druet Vaumoreau and Fiefs Louys and 1995 Grandmonts, and 1996 Taluau VV). The focus doesn't have to be old, though, as I've had almost none of these for the 2003 to 2009 vintages and verticals can be fun.

That's just a starting point, and I'm open to other options as well.

Mike-

I think making it a multi-day thing. If we were able to do a late dinner Friday, dinner Saturday and an early dinner Sunday (before flights or drives) I would propose:

Friday with Muscadet and Beaujolais (Oysters and Rillets).

Saturday lunch CRB and randoms and barbecue (natch).

Saturday dinner based on Baudry.

Sunday early dinner based on Rougeard.

What, no Texier? Otherwise, I'd be labeling this event as "Wines Nathan Loves." Regardless, sounds like a most fun event in the offing.

Could possible come, too; but the summer schedule is - as they say - fluid. Maybe you could sacrifice one day's planned theme to a 'pot luck,' where attendees bring something each particularly likes.

As August is getting closer, we should probably go ahead and pick a weekend. I'm still available on the weekend of the 15th and of the 22nd and may be able to do the 29th.

I thought Nathan told me it had been decided for the 8th.

I'm out of town the weekend of the 29th but everything else in August is fine.

Hey y'all, I just got back from 2 weeks in Europe (part with brézème) and landed into crazy town at work.

I'm moving into a new house August 1 and selling my old house. So a lot going on.

We can do 1 of two things. Keep shooting for the August 7-9 weekend (but with the move, I won't really be able to put anyone up at the house) and have it be fairly loose.

Alternately, we can push back to the fall when the weather will be nicer and I'll have more time to devote to structuring events.

Thoughts?

OK, I think we'll move to later in the Fall. This works a lot better for me.

Weekends I can rule out now are October 10-11 and 17-18.
