NYC... again. Jan 15 JEEBUS?

Mark Lipton
The trip has now been confirmed and I will be in town the night of Jan 15. Is there a good place to go that's open on Sundays? I'm open to location. And if it's BYO I'll lug along a few bottles from the cellar.

Great! Sunday would be my preference, but I'm open to other suggestions (I also need to get final confirmation from my lawyer contact that those dates are OK with him -- it'll certainly be that week regardless).

I don't know how many people read this bored, so we'll see if we can land a few more Disorderlies.

Typical choices:
- Chinese joints aplenty... Ping's Seafood, Peking Duck House, Wu's Wonton.
- Hawaiian fusion with a wine-savvy owner... Noreetuh.

Supposedly BYO but I have not been:
- Al Badawi: Palestinian restaurant near me!

BYO but oy:
- Lucali: pizza nirvana, also near me!, but no rez and waits are legendary

If numbers remain intimate, I might consider hosting.

Good Fork has recently reopened as a pub, not a restaurant (=> no rez) so we might investigate.

I'm open to other ideas, too.

Never been to any of your suggestions, including PDH. No rez is a non-starter for me, tho. I'll leave it up to you locals which place to choose. All are attractive to this flyover-country denizen.

You might want to look into Cha Kee. They take reservations and as of the last time I went, BYO. They have very good glassware. Check the menu but the food pairs well with Disorderly choices.

Thanks, Jason. Looks interesting.

I was leaning towards Noreetuh because, despite its popularity in some geek circles, I've only been once.

The food at Ping's is good and, apparently, some of the staff know us!

PDH Midtown, while only a fair-to-middling kitchen, has lots of room, big tables, never rush us, easy to reach.

Not sure if any plans have been finalized on this front? Or how often folks check the jeebus board. But I'm getting some clarity on my schedule and would like to join this dinner. Whatever logistics work best for the rest of you?

Rahsaan, I sent you email, please write back.

I only just heard from Jeff about this (I don't usually check this bored).

I'm on call that week but will try to get someone to cover me for the evening. No guarantees

Al Badawi is very, very noisy.

if you don't mind trekking out to Jersey City we have a very good BYO pizza place and 2 very good BYO Chinese, one Sichuan and one Shanghainese. the latter's food is more wine friendly as the cuisine tends to sweet rather than spicy but if wine is mostly white the former can work as well.

Jersey City is pretty easy for me. I live in the Village and PATH is straightforward. But, as I said, whatever is best for the group is fine by me!
