inauguration weekend

Come out here, we'll open some VERY great stuff, and you can rent out your house at a huge profit. (Plus, I've got a complicated demurrer to file two days later, and besides, it's going to be warm and sunny out here.)

I'm still waiting for my Inaugural Ball tickets that I bought online through a Nigerian clearing house. Once they've arrived, I'll know more about concrete dates and times.

i'm coming to the swearing in and a home state ball. if we can find a place to stay that is.
the prices hotels are charging are crimminal. yesterday, the hotel monaco in arlington had a four night minimum at $930/night!
gaullidet university is offering rooms at their conference center for $630/night. homeowners could easily rent rooms for 1/2 that and make a killing.
amtrak has been sold out for a few weeks now. dinner reservations are non existent
there must millions coming.

One of our local radio hosts (an ultra conservative) was citing "reports" of nearly empty hotel bookings and "projections" of minimal attendance next week. I guess he hasn't yet gotten over the loss of the election.

thanks maureen. i'll try that.

tell the radio host to try hotel availabilty on orbitz, hotels.com, etc. there has been no availablity for at least three weeks. i started trying to book seats on amtrak out of wilmington,de. right after new years and i'd say about 90% of the trains were sold out. amtrak isn't immune to a little gouging either. two rt tickets are about $450. or is it always that much?

You're just looking for housing now!

Wow.

Good luck with Maureen's suggestions.

we didn't find out until this past w/e.

The fair weather here has its dark side. We're on track for the driest January on record, and the past two years have been unusually dry. Some water districts are already on water rationing, and unless things change dramatically over the next 2-3 months, I think it'll be universal out here by the middle of the year. I still remember without pleasure 1977, when we had to take a bucket into the shower to capture the runoff for reuse, and showers consisted of getting wet, turning off the water, soaping up, and then a final rinse. And those icky, unflushed toilets.

It ain't just a river in Sudan...er...Kuwait...no...that's not right, either.

amtrak isn't usually that expensive - buy hey it's broke too so making money when it can - go to the washington post web site where they have an inauguration page with constantly updated info about transportation/hotels etc
