That’s interesting about Les Caprices de l’Instant. I bought some bottles of 2010 Barthod Véroilles from them in 2016 for an ok price and was told they came directly from the domaine.
It would not surprise me at all if they came direct from the domaine. Have you tried the wine, and if so, how was it?

I haven’t, Claude. Being Barthod, I assumed the rule of 3 to 20-25 years should apply!

The new style definitely extends to the Vaucrains. LSG I've been priced out of, so can't comment on any post-2015.
My palate agrees with you, but that's not what Gregory told me. Perhaps it was just too difficult to have two wines that were stylistically different?

Both 2016s at La Paulee in NYC in 2019 definitely showed the new style.

Keep in mind that changes have been made in both the vineyard and the cellar. The vineyard changes are across the board, as far as I know. And then there's also the vintage effect, some vintages making wines more forward than they normally are.

Finally, FWIW, and I've tasted annually at Gouges since 1993 except for 2020, 2021, and 2022, I've always found the remarks about the toughness of the older wines to some extent exaggerated. Yes, they were tough compared to, say, Chevillon, but what would you expect?

Once again, many people seem to think that if red Burgundies don't drink well at age 10, they're a failure. I do wish we could get some more of this "Burgundy's a crapshoot" mentality back in circulation so that those who know what they're doing could have more opportunity.

I've got a Gouges LSG vertical and a Chevillon LSG vertical ready to go, but better to do them both at different times.

I have but one vintage of each LSG - 2009 Gouges and 2010 Chevillon. Happy to bring one or both if this happens.

I only got 2009 Gouges LSG, but I'm also assuming this is going to be an East Coast event if this happens.

Would have been nice to see people again after all of these years. Hopefully one day!

It's 2022 Trebbiano here and probably need to reload. Down to my last bottle of Pecorino and just a few Cerasuolo (which is out for the vintage). These are the white/pink versions of Caparsa in our house.

VLM, did you go through every recent vintage of the trebbiano to some extent? Just popped my first 2021, and something didn't add up. Wondering if I got an off bottle. All the right flavors but not the grip I am used to, even in years like 2018.

I bought so much 2018-2020 that I ended up skipping 2021 but I'm sure I had it at a restaurant we frequent. I have a vague memory of it being unremarkable, but it's just vague and your comment may be biasing my thinking. For sure I skipped it though. Reminds me I'm out of 2022 and need to grab some more.
