Aligote? Aligote! An experiment in white wine

also, try olivier lemasson's algotest. 100% aligote from the touraine. wierd, but delicious. slurpable even... definitely hipsterish...

That's too funny. But you can rest assured that you always said it right, because that is certainly what Jules is saying- or maybe something more like "Bread"

All these years, I thought it was Brad too.

I may be wrong, but I think the story goes that Samuel L. is off-script and even thought the character's name isn't Brad, QT liked that take so much he went with it.

YOU VACUOUS TOFFEE-NOSED MALODOROUS PERVERT!
You called me? "But it seems to me I've heard that song before." You're a quiz show kind of guy. Who sang the above mentioned song? "Biggest selling version?

John Cleese?
I screwed up the song was "I've heard that song before" who accompanied the singer and who was the singer?

I've quite often had Ponsot's Mont Luisants. My large stash of the 99 has gone but it was an absolutely fabulous wine. I still have quite a lot of 77, which is invigorating to say the least, the perfect wine on a jambon persill. I never pass up an opportunity to drink older vintages at a fair price, and I have never been disappointed. In a different style the Clavelier can be tremendous, even once past its first freshness, though it has more body than one would expect. the Bouchard Aligot de Bouzeron is also pretty surprising, and recommended.

Yes, many. It's a top flight wine. There's an article about a tasting of them back to 1961 or 1959 in The World of Fine Wine from about 2 years or so ago.

Tom, Claude: Merci. I read somewhere that Ponsot used both aligote and chardonnay in this bottling for a long time, then, within the past several years, shifted to solely aligote. Is this so? Have you tried the 100% aligote bottlings?

Ian -- He had more than Aligot in the wine for at least some years, although his recitation of exactly what was in there depended on when you asked him (Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris). For the last few years, it has been exclusively Aligot, and yes, I have tasted both before and after the change.

Claude,

Given that the wine is 100% Aligote, how is it that Ponsot is able to put '1er cru' on the label? I thought Chardonnay was the only allowed white variety.

I think INAO just looks the other way, just as Clos des Lambrays said "grand cru" on the label for many years before it was officially upgraded to grand cru status. (BTW, Pinot Blanc is permitted, and somewhat widely used, in Morey along with Chardonnay.)

I just found the '06 de Villaine Bouzeron for $16/bottle. I have wanted to post in this thread for almost a year! Sweet!
