It's all going underground. On Saturday nights a local group apparently populates an ever-changing abandoned warehouse in Detroit for the purpose of consuming large amounts of rare and obscure wine. The location is only announced early in the afternoon and spreads through a network of local contacts.
Usually, the organizers will come in early to setup the cheese and charcuterie plates, though a small oven and burner are brought in for anyone that needs to do an on site saut or warm their gougere. To remain low-key, music is limited to a battery operated, portable ipod shuffling Sade songs on low volume.
I've heard some of these events last well past 10:30.
