Very Veri Vini Wine Tour to Launch in LA on Tuesday, April 21st

Please note that I pulled out of the Assault after Jay Miller's recent review of my wine and Mr. Dressner's assigning me a table with poor visibility and traffic flow.

I reserved a spot at Terroir but I get the feeling even as a visitor I'm only going to be allowed to be around the shiraz.

That's not the story I heard. Boy should your ears be burning.

JBL and I will be to the trade tasting on the 23rd in San Francisco. We will attempt to keep Dressner honest while attending this West Coast venue. Pray for us, Joe's BS is not easy to overcome.

Some Good Friday Dessert to top off the Passover meal:

Since Sharon Bowman isn't going to be there, any idea how well these winemakers speak English? Good enough to dish up some dirt on say Puzelat or Dressner?

I was lucky enough to have Sharon translate a little in NYC in March. She'd talk, the winemaker would talk. She'd look over...and smile. It was afterall, her evening off!

In the off chance there's anyone else coming in from out of town and is looking for a decent, affordable room, the Vagabond Inn is only a few blocks away from Terroir and the online booking price is $68 plus tax. I stayed there last year and the rooms have been recently remodeled.
It's right next to a bar called The Stud. In watching "Milk," they mention going to a bar called The Stud and I wonder if it's the same place.

That it is, a SF landmark of a sort: The Stud

A superb tasting Joe. So cool to taste with the wine makers. Msr. Texier is a super fellow. Seems like a trouble maker...me like. The Brun wines were fantastic. The Morgon is a home run. Loved the Luneau-Papin wines. Msr. Pinon's wines did not suck. The Montesecondo CC was a winner too. I'm a big fan of Frappato but it's a hard sell at that price. No notes with me here at work so nothing to really say but Thanks a bunch!

I had a swell time too, the wines were boffo, hit right out of the park. Favorites were the Domaine le Briseau You Are So Cool Sauvignon and You Are So Fine Chenin Blanc, the Franck Peillot 07 Pinot de Bugey, JP Brun's Moulin au Vent, and the Montesecondo Petit Verdot. And all the Muscadets. I'm sorry, but I didn't run into Kessler, JBL, or Timko, but that's probably because I was at the LA FarmWine tasting, not the one in SF. Ships that pass on the right and all, you know?

-Eden (good cold-cuts, bread, and olives too)

PS: That Panevino Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi 'Ogu was perplexing but wonderful, as was the 07 Bellivire Le Rouge Gorge (only without the perplexing part, just the wonderfulness).

at the SF tasting either. But a good time was had, nonetheless... Nice to see Joe after so long.
As i walked up Folsom St. from my parking space I was surprised to smell red wine in the air. There was a good explanation; it was running in the gutter down Folsom toward the Bay. Oh, the South of the Slot!

No sign of any of the lot of you, Steve. But I was at Terroir and not the trade tasting. Good times were had.

I didn't go to Terroir; saw Degan at the trade event. Man, those poor growers must be pooped!

Sandi and I had an excellent time. Her first time at this kind of tasting. She totally dug the event and the wines.

I didn't take notes and there was no tasting sheet so what I liked comes from my feeble memory. I'm sure I'm missing a few.

Rosso and Chianti Classico, Montesecondo
Moscato d'Asti, Bera
Chinato and an awesome apperativo from Vergano. He took the latter, mixed with a bit of sparkling water and a twist of orange over ice. I would've drunk a bottle's worth of that recipe if it had been around a couple of days before when it was in the 90s.

Who was the Italian producer standing next to Bera? Really enjoyed those wines.

07 Vouvray and sparkling Vouvray, Pinon
All the wines (one sparkler, one white, two reds) from Peillot
07, 05 and 02 Muscadet, Luneau-Papin. The 05 was white wine of the night for me.
06 Morgon (both Cote du Py and Javernieres), Desvignes - amazing Beaujolais
Brezeme Blanc (100% Roussanne), St-Gervais (100% Grenache), 06 Chateauneuf from Texier
L'Effraie and Les Rosiers from Belliviere
Beaujolais Blanc, Brun (I thought the '08 Ancien was good, but not great. Will probably want to revisit)

Lots of nice wines. Occhipinti rocked. I was sorry to hear the wines are hard to find.
God, that apertif was remarkable.
I'll post more photos later.

Brun just bottled his '08s, early because he was out of wine to sell. They need to settle down; they'll be fine. I thought the Moulin A Vent showed beautifully on the nose.
